Coping with Body Dysmorphic Disorder Courses

Coping with BDD Course WorkshopsDo you suffer from body dysmorphic disorder (BDD)? Do you need help dealing with the anxiety, shame, and depression that you feel every day? There are actions you can take daily that will enable you to feel better and take control of your BDD symptoms. The Coping with BDD Courses will teach you simple and effective skills to cope with your BDD bully and feel better about how you look.

Many individuals with body dysmorphic disorder want to know how to effectively cope with the self-hatred, shame, anxiety, and depression they feel about their appearance. Rituals such as mirror checking/avoidance, camouflaging with makeup and clothing, taking multiple selfies, and asking others for reassurance that they look okay can be immensely time-consuming and debilitating.

The Coping with BDD Courses help people reduce or eliminate their negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and improve their body image. Effective coping strategies include self-care, mindfulness and meditation, dealing with fear and anxiety, and reducing time spent on rituals.

Read what past participants are saying about the Coping with BDD Course Workshops:

From Alex A. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me! I am now able to tell myself that I love myself and truly mean it most days. This is extraordinary!

From Kristin S.  Thank you for running the workshops. The information you provided was really informative for those who are new to understanding BDD. For me, the connection and conversation with the small group was the most helpful, along with the discussion prompts. It was also helpful to be encouraged to respond to others’ posts. Empathy always leads to a sense of connection…it feels good to offer support and encouragement to others; a sense of common humanity.

I’ve been connecting with a couple of people from the group and we continue to offer each other support and encouragement via text. Empathy connects us to ourselves and others. One of the most impactful prompts for me was identifying and naming my inner critic and my inner nice voice. That has come up frequently, so thank you for that!

From Ideh R. I found the format of a short lecture followed by a group discussion helpful. I think the integration of a grounding exercise was also a treat/added benefit.  I would recommend the workshops to other people with BDD. The small number of participants in the group and the frequency of the workshops allow for more content to be explored in depth.
